Proverbs 9:10
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy one is understanding."

2007
i lived,
i learned,
and i hope that i've conquered...
i do not wish to repeat
because away with my soul
did it feast
leaving a shell of nothingness
and self defeat
Contemplation
I've started to compile a list of the things that I want to do in life. :)
Good things to think about. Very good.

- God is one and has revealed His nature in Christ
- Evil is real and binds us to sin
- The Law shows us our need of salvation
- Through Christ and His cross, God has freed us from the power of sin and restored us to a relationship with Him
- Christ's resurrection is our victory over death
- Today, the church continues Christ's work on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit

The time is now
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:
preach the word;
be ready in season and out of season;
and exhort with complete patience and teaching.
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Nehemiah 8.9-10
Then Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, "This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep." For all the people were weeping when they heard the words of the law. Then he said to them, "Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."

Alright
Be joyful always,
pray without ceasing
and in all things give thanks,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

they were caught in this vat
there was one way out
the way was narrow
not like a spout
few searched earnestly
for the way out
many content just "to be"
living a life of complete drought
dying daily, only for self
living with mountainous doubt
i wanted so very badly
to scream and to shout
to point them to
the Narrow Way out.
The Bare Necessities
Time to think about the necessities...
A passion for Christ;
Some water, no ice;
Enough food to get by;
Family; true love; and a little shuteye.

act, love, walk with your God
With what shall I come before the LORD and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:6-8

one-hundred-and-three

if i live to one-hundred-and-three
i hope that i've sailed the mediterranean sea
and absorbed a healthy amount of vitamin d
maybe i will have more than one academic degree
that all revolve around painting, drawing, singing, and pottery
i hope that i lived in the capital of tennessee temporarily,
and grew a beautiful avocado tree
and drank unglody amounts of norwegian tea
i hope that my 17 children visit me
even though i'm senile and mostly crazy
i hope that my man still loves me
even though i'm wrinkled and scary
i hope my dentures are comfy
and my eyes don't fail to see
the colours of the seasons, i love leaves
o' one hundred and three
i hope you don't make me cranky
that would be a dangerous sight to see
hmmmmm.... mmmhm.
if i live to one-hundred-and-three
i hope that i'm used immeasurably

My Precious, Anemic Little Lass
Emotionally, avast, uncharted Landscape.
Anemic from your youth.
Fellows lie and deceive
Broken your heart they leave.
Emotionally, a deep, dark well.
Anemic from the truth.
Scars are slow to heal
On hearts that cease to seal.
Oh, my Little one.
Have faith,
All this too shall pass
my precious, anemic Little lass.

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.”
Lewis
Fishing

The whole dozen only cost $1.25
They were fat and raised to die
The white foam cup was half dirt and half pink mush
They squirmed and lived their lives out
But little did they know,
They were just bait,
All I wanted was to catch a fish
I popped the top and the dirt trembled
Then I wiggled my fingers through the dirt
Grasping for a slippery, pink worm
As I slide him onto the hook
I saw him die
I'm so sorry little worm,
All I wanted was to catch a fish
